Injector/nozzle → Cylinder → Cylinder wall → Crankcase
Another possible path on engines using certain mechanically driven lift pumps is:
Fuel supply → Lift pump → Failed diaphragm or internal seal → Engine-side cavity → Lubrication system
These mechanisms require different repairs.
The generator used a low-pressure fuel-delivery arrangement in which the lift pump was mechanically associated with the engine.
Technicians therefore inspected:
The exact construction differs by pump design, so service information remained necessary.
Injector-related fuel dilution was still possible.

The critical question was not:
“Which injector is leaking?”
It was:
“Through which physical route is diesel reaching the crankcase?”
On designs where a failed diaphragm or internal seal can communicate with the engine side, it is a possible fault path.
Fuel-contaminated lubricant should be handled according to the engine manufacturer’s service requirements.
